Snowmobiling Conditions for 12/29/12

Wilder Performance

The Great News:

The way it’s snowing now, the ilsnow.com storm center is probably on its way to another half-foot of snow today!

The Bad News:

Mud holes and blow down are making it difficult for the grooming crews to get the narrow woods trails in shape for snowmobiling. Don’t even think about hitting the lakes yet!

My Best Advise:

Hit the places with seasonal roads, like Moose River Plains, Perkins Clearing, and Powley Road. The north end of Perkins Clearing Road has been plowed for logging early this winter. But that is probably going to end soon. If you insist on riding the narrow wooded trails around Indian Lake and Speculator, be very careful and prepared for hazards!

Extended Outlook:

We may get a serious Arctic plunge by the middle of next week that would help tremendously in freezing up the mud holes. Great days are ahead!
