Oak Mountain Hill Climbs in Speculator this weekend! Update 12/3/14

Wilder Performance

We got a big dump of snow before Thanksgiving, then lost most of it. Indian Lake got upwards of 3 inches of snow Monday night, then melted some of it off on Tuesday. Then some lake effect snows Tuesday night. This is par for the course for late fall & early winter.

There could be another minor snow and mixed precipitation event Friday night into Saturday morning. Remember that snowmobiling season on State land does not start until sundown on Sunday, December 8th for Hamilton and northern Herkimer counties. Away from the heart of the Adirondacks, you’ll need to check with your favorite club in regards to the start of their riding season.

Weekend Update:

The first significant event of the season in ilsnow land will be this Saturday at Oak Mountain in Speculator. These races are under the lights, which adds to the two-stroke atmosphere. Stop by and watch the fun! Or enter your sled in a race if you think you’re tough enough for hill climbs.

Extended Outlook:

Early next week could be interesting if the coastal storm develops as per the Euro model:

MONDAY

The potential for big snow is there, especially if the coastal storm becomes captured by the digging eastern United States trough.

We shall see…

For the ilsnow nation,

Darrin
