Snow conditions: Update 12/28/14

Wilder Performance

I took a long walk today and was hard pressed to tell you that it’s late December. It felt, looked and smelled more like early April with the melting snow, mud and runoff.

Snow cover was 3-6 inches “in the woods” around town but the usual exposed areas were thin to bare.

There was some die hard riding to be had in Perkins Clearing if you wanted it bad enough. This group did about 45 miles Sunday in the back bowels of Perkins:

Back in Indian Lake village, the trails looked a lot like this debacle on S84 heading out toward Lake Durant from town:

Midweek Outlook:

Sharply colder temperatures this week will stop the bleeding and crust the snow up. The swamps and low lying areas will get to drain. But very little snow is expected this week, so I can’t really recommend coming here from any significant distance to ride. Whether you decide to click some miles in Perkins Clearing or Moose River Plains would be totally at your own risk.

Lakes are not safe, period.

I’ll take a look at what the weather may do next weekend and beyond on my Youtube channel this week. So, be on the lookout for that.

For the ilsnow nation,
