Hoping the weather and conditions hold up for one more day. Planning a trip from Indian Lake. Not sure if we should head to Speculator , out to Moose River Plains, or possibly Newcomb/Long Lake.

Anyone with some intel would be helpful. Also, how are the lakes holding up. pretty cold last night and today.

Thank you.

I have been on Oxbow, Fall, Fawn, Sacandaga, Lake Pleasant, Elm. You ride at your own risk but my observation is that lakes are absolutely frozen solid. Even inlets, outlets are pretty well frozen up. Many creeks and streams in the woods are still so frozen and snow covered you hardly know they are there.

I do not know about trails from IL to Mason Lake or S82C/C4 through Perkins. Trail C4 from Perkins to Speculator is rough and snirty with some bare spots but overall reasonably passable. S41C around Hatchery Brook is a little better but the river trail out from Cave Hill Rd. to Speculator is getting pretty ground down.

I personally wouldn't recommend starting a ride from Indian Lake. We're pretty much shot over here.

Start in Perkins (south lot), then work your way out toward Piseco/Morehouse from there.

So I ended up making the trip yesterday and it was well worth it. Left from Sabeal on Indian Lake, after breakfast at Chrissy's headed to Long Lake. I little snirty getting out of town but once in the woods it was a fantastic ride.

Things were cooking up by end of day and there was a lot more bare spots when we returned. Pretty sure that was the last ride of the year but almost 100 miles put in and I can't complain about the conditions. Newcomb's side of the trail had just been groomed...VERY NICE!! Thanks Newcomb.
