According to the Ohio Clubs January 2018 news letter this trails is now open. It goes from the Salisbury Club to Ohio via Jerseyfield Lake Rd. Its a very scenic trail thru the mountains and is always closed due to mud holes that the Ohio Club are not allowed to build bridges over till the UMP is completed.
Great Job Ohio Club. We love this trail.

This is a great trail IF the Jerseyfield Lake Road is not plowed. Last time I rode it, the road was not plowed. But I heard a couple of years ago the road was plowed. Any info on that Ron??

When I talked to the new director to NYSSA from Herkimer Country about the road at the Salisbury Club he told me the guy who is bull dozing the road open is a one man logging operation. He's been at it for over 5 years now and they don't know when he's going to stop. He has 1700 acres to log and has to wait for the road to freeze after he plows it.
And it faces south so the sun really gets into the black dirt and you cant get up on the banks except in a few places.
Going south on it you can turn north at a intersection of the switch back trail. This will save about 3 miles of dirt riding. The club tries to get up on the banks to help us but that's limited. Our temp gauges were up on WOW the last time I tried it.
Best time to ride it is after a snowfall the day or two before.
Some good news about this trail. I talked to the forester in charge (Johnathin Desantis) earlier today. He is going to see if our director from region 5 here can get some work done on the bridges needed for snowmobiling safety as the Ferris Lake UMP is nearly complete and will be out for public review. The only thing that might hold it up is the greenies are appealing the decision that the DEC won to the NYS court of appeals of new trail building including new bridges in the forest preserve. We should win here also as our slimey governor is in favor of snowmobile tourism
I told him. Now is the time to get material in there as the mud holes are froze. He's going in next week to look over the situation. Cross your fingers.

Ohio just posted on face book a short time ago that this trail is now closed due to the mud holes that the rain opened up. Dont have much hope for this trail till they freeze and we get a lot more snow.
They also closed C4 going from Noblesboro to South Lake. This trail is always full of mud holes going up Black Creek Lake Rd.
I knew that this was going to happen to this trail as nothing is bridged. Not Ohio's fault.

If it has snowed recently it may be possible to bypass the Black Creek Lake section by going to he end of Haskill Road and continuing over the hill to Big Brook. Bui there could be washouts north of Big Brook. The other problem is that continuing from North Lake to Millbrook is probably not possible due to flooding along the Sand Lake outlet.
