Hearing there has been a bad accident on the south end of perkins clearing. I am just posting this because maybe it will put a reminder in every ones mind that we need to be careful out there. I am not saying the person was driving wild or anything I have no idea I am just saying be extra careful out there so we all can return to our family's . Conditions are not that good and extra caution should be taken for the unexpected things.

I was there while it happened and didn't even know it. I was in Perkins heading back towards the beach lot and it was right behind me not far back on the trail.
Just after we left the medivac must have came in the lot in the ball field area and I had no clue what happened.
I'm a little shook up knowing I was right there..

For the record trails are deceiving. Flat and fast but its one inch of dusty snow on top of glare ice. Near the end of my ride I noticed a throttle jockey track cleaned just about every corner down to ice so I'm assuming someone was over riding the conditions.

Where exactly did it happen in perkins? What kinda sled was it? I was on the trail just before this happened so I'm curious.

The corners were super icy when I was there on Monday and can see how someone could easily loose it in a corner. Even with some new snow the there is a lot of ice out there....take it easy.

that's the turn I had in my mind too when wellsrider mentioned the cleared paths of snow down to ice......that turn is nasty, I always look at it when I pass by, heavily wooded and drops off some.....no thanks.

Simply ride with your brain and you will have a great day. Did 90-100 miles yesterday.

I think I would be afraid of the guy coming the other way too fast around the corner and hitting me rather than myself running off the trail !

I was up there about two hours ago and see no sign anywhere near there of a sled going of the trail. I had hear it was like 5 miles in, but not sure if it was fact or hear say. Hope the person is ok.

I was parked on the south end of Perkins right by route 30 taking a warm up break when it happened but I didn't hear anything. In fact I hear any other sleds and only saw a few small groups all day.
