This camera is in Black River Valley 5 miles south of Lowville
http://www.lewisfirst.com/glenfieldcam/

The trail through Glenfield is is one of 2 ways to get across the Black River to go between Tug Hill and the Adirondacks -- through the Brantingham/Confusions Flats area to the 10 Mile Crossing trail (Stillwater/Old Forge, Tupper Lake via the railroad, Long Pond/Harrisville, etc.)

Now that we might actually be heading in to winter, I've put my snowcam back on line.

If you see lots of snow here, then the trails between Brantingham and Tug Hill are probably ridable.

I like to take the Mount Tom trail through Confusion Flats and Stony Lake and Balsam Flats rather than 10 Mile Crossing road.

There is also an "unimproved" trail called the Silvermine trail from the intersection with 10 Mile around to the end of Partridgeville Road. It is a legal trail but generally it is a boondocking ride because it is more of a traditional trail and almost no one rides it. A lot of it is pretty nice, following old logging roads, but there are a few really tricky sections including one through a swamp that may or may not be frozen. Most machines would have real difficulty making it through those sections a couple of hills where the old road is washed out in particular. Conditions have to be right to even attempt it. There has to be a lot of snow and cold. Supposedly the DEC has plans to make some improvements but I don't think it is a priority.

Now that we're starting to have snow, I'm putting my Glenfield Village Snow Cam back on line for the 2012-2013 season. If all goes well, it should automatically start uploading images tomorrow (Nov. 28) morning.
