This board has been too quiet. We are past the 1st week of November and it's finally starting to get colder. Anyone else starting to think about riding? :rev:

Starting to think more about the up coming season with these colder temps. A little wet snow yesterday helps also.
Been up to Speculator twice the last 2 months to help out with trail maintenance. Can't wait to ride.
:winter:

It's a couple of things:

1. We haven't had much winter-like weather to talk about until that nice blast we got on Friday.

2. This bulletin board isn't as active as it was 10 years ago. Heck, I'm not even on this board half as much as I used to be and I own it! Facebook pages and groups are where it's at now.

I'm very happy to keep the bulletin board going as long as some people continue to use it. It's not as high maintenance as it was during it's heyday.

Anyhow, I think we'll get something to talk about by next weekend:

I placed a call to the Newcomb Chamber of Commerce information center to confirm this. But I never got a call back after I left a voice mail.

Would be a shame because I always enjoyed their Philly Cheese Steaks. I'm a sucker for them...

I agree. I'm not on Facebook and from what I have seen from other people showing me things on Facebook I don't plan to be on it any time soon.

The nice thing about this site is you can check in and get an honest look at current conditions and sled talk local to the area I ride without a bunch of garbage. I don't need the drama of Facebook.

I drove up to the Pillsbury trailhead and hiked up Pillsbury today. No snow in Lake Pleasant/Speculator. Almost none in the woods along Mason Lake road but the road itself was snowy and icy from all the vehicles packing down previous snow. Some spots looked almost like a winter when it was plowed due to logging. A couple inches on the trail up Pillsbury. It was like a temporary trip in to early winter.

its just a matter of time before the snow starts to fall and then the site will get busy again.
at least that's what I hope for

It never seemed to be very busy last winter.

Internet bulletin boards are going the way of the do-do bird. I know this board isn't half as active as it was 10 years ago. But I'm getting more traffic on my main website and Facebook pages.

I'll keep the board going for the die-hards. :)
